Um...Huh??

I'm not a big governmental buff, so could someone please explain to me how a bill that has 22% public approval gets passed by a majority of our Senators? I was made to understand that we're governed by a democracy - you know, for the people by the people - and I assume that means our wants are supposed to be at least approximated in congressional representation.

It just doesn't sound like democracy to me, more like maybe an oligarchy or just a straight up dictatorship. The motherfuckers are forgetting what happens when you piss off the masses.

1 When American politicians piss off the masses they just bring out the propaganda machines to make everyone think they are over-reacting. "It'll be fine sir, now go back to your reality tv".

2 The 'democracy' thing is a catch-phrase. We are a republic or, at best, a representative democracy. We vote for the people on the hill to represent our interests, and then they do whatever they feel like doing. Then, instead of holding them accountable at the ballot box, we vote them back into office. I'm not sure why, but I cannot come up with another explanation for Ted Kennedy. g

3 I have been ready to start a revolution for years now -- I just am not sure how to make it happen. I think people need to get back to the basics, read the Constitution, and do what is necessary to set this country straight. That's what the founding fathers would have wanted -- they are probably churning in their graves at the state of our nation.
